Experience the Unique Charms of Oqaatsut, Greenland
Join us on an adventure to the small settlement of Oqaatsut! Your local Greenlandic guide is a wealth of knowledge about the area and its history, and will accompany you on this exciting journey.
Ride across hills, sea ice, and frozen lakes on snowmobiles to reach this picturesque little village. As we approach the village, you’ll notice the traditional wooden houses. Despite having fewer than 40 residents, Oqaatsut boasts a small shop, bed & breakfast, restaurant mainly open during summertime. The residents of the village are mainly hunters who gather ice to melt for water and hunt for their own food. They live a simple lifestyle surrounded by the ruggedness of nature.
The only way to reach it is by snowmobile, dog sled or by boat in wintertime.
Overall, visiting this village is a chance to disconnect from the modern world and immerse yourself in the beauty of nature. It’s a humbling and inspiring experience that will leave you with a newfound appreciation for the simple things in life.
If we’re lucky, we’ll get to see the frozen lakes and admire the bubbles of air trapped between the sharp cracks. The 45 min ride to the village is unforgettable, and you’ll be amazed by the beauty of the landscape.
We want to ensure that you have a safe and enjoyable experience, so please come prepared with warm clothing and any necessary gear.
Safety is our top priority, so if the weather turns bad, your guide will do everything possible to reschedule the trip for another day. Don’t miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime experience!

- We recommend wearing a base layer made of moisture-wicking material to keep sweat away from your skin, followed by a warm insulating layer and a waterproof outer layer to protect against the elements.
- Don’t forget to wear thick socks and waterproof boots to keep your feet warm and dry.
- As mentioned, we will provide helmets for your safety during the activity. However, if you have your own helmet that you feel comfortable wearing, you are welcome to bring it along.
- It’s also a good idea to bring gloves, a scarf, and a hat to protect your hands, neck, and head from the cold.
- Finally, we suggest bringing a small backpack to carry any additional items you may need, such as snacks, water, and a camera to capture the beautiful scenery.
